Provisional Driving Licence - Fee £50
Before learning to drive you must be in possession of a current provisional driving licence. The minimum age for learner drivers in the UK is 17 but you can apply for a licence up to two months before your seventeenth birthday.
The Theory Test - fee £31
The theory test now consists of two parts:
Part 1 – Theory Questions
You will be asked 50 multiple choice questions with a pass mark of 43.
Part 2 – Hazard Perception
A series of 14 video clips of driving situations designed to test your awareness. The pass mark is 44 out of 75.
You must pass both parts of the test at the same time. A theory test certificate is issued which is valid for two years and you will be asked for the theory test certificate number when booking your practical test. (You must pass your theory test before you can book your practical driving test).
Hazels Motorschool offers free training for the theory test and is happy to answer any questions you may have while studying for it.
There are a large number of books, videos, DVDs, CD-ROMs and web sites to assist you when studying for the theory test.

Once the theory test is passed, we can forward plan a date for the practical driving test based on your driving progress so far.
